As the pieces of the Epsom Derby puzzle begin to fall into place, somehow the picture is looking a little muddled. Perhaps the mists of Epsom will clear on Thursday when the 2010 Dante Stakes is run at York. This is historically a tremendously influential trial for The Derby. It has produced a trio of Derby winners in the last few years. This year the Dante looks as strong a renewal as any of those. The Derby second-favourite Workforce puts his reputation on the line. He is a highly-regarded maiden winner but Michael Stoute's hope doesn't yet have the form in the book to merit his lofty position in the Epsom betting market.
